Paris Windows (Tri-color gum)

This image is part of a series that represents impressions of
places I have visited. They are my memories of my travels and
don't always have a very close relationship to the reality of each place.

The original images were captured with a vintage Polaroid Time Zero
SX-70 camera using instant encapsulated film that provides an
impressionistic vision. The film stays malleable under the mylar
protective layer for a short time, during which one can move the
emulsion around. Manipulation of the emulsion softens the image
and removes much of the photograph's realism resulting in a more
painterly image quality. The nature of these images led to my
learning the Tri-color dichromate process and printing them using
that alternative process to emphasize the painterlyness of the images.

All prints, by the nature of the printing, are one-of-a-kind.
They are made from photographic negatives and layers of pigment
on watercolor paper. Each layer is individually printed to meet
the artist's personal vision.

Will be in a show at the M. S. Rezny Studio/Gallery in Lexington,
KY September 16 through October 31, 2011
