Slabs of pink stone are used throughout Rajasthan as a building material. I was intrigued by their ubiquitous use as fence posts, where I would expect to see wood. The stone is plentiful, relatively inexpensive and its use prevents killing relatively scarce trees, which are also revered by some sects.
