There was a bander at the ranch for a couple of days, so we got to help trap them, watch the banding process, and release the birds. The birds are only kept for a few minutes and the bander always checks to make sure they aren't too stressed. She wraps them in a blanket to restrain them while putting on the band. It reminds me of the owl burrito at the Raptor Center!
