The fastest chainsaw on earth.

The saw---90hp 500cc water cooled HUSQVARNA motorcycle engine.running a 36" custom made guide bar and special hand made 1/2 pitch square ground chain. The saw runs a 16 tooth drive sprocket that is also custom built. Everything about this saw is custom made for speed. Gary and his partner Steve Ingalls designed and built THE IRON HOURSE as it's called. However, the compitition has a lot of different names they call it. *@##@$%% and so on. None of them were very nice. But sticks and stones------ The saw---90hp 500cc water cooled HUSQVARNA motorcycle engine. running a 36" custom blade guide bar and special hand made 1/2 pitch square ground chain. The saw runs a 16 tooth drive sprocket that is also custom built. Everything about this saw is custom made for speed. Gary and his partner Steve Ingalls designed and built -If you counted all the time involved in the design and CAD time on the computer, plus building special parts the cost would be in excess of $35,000.00. The saw has ever been beaten at a logging show. Gary holds the worlds speed cutting record through a 27" log of 2.34sec set at Morton, Washington's Grand finals. Come and visit HOTSAW.COM

Hello Gary, I hope all is well. I did some field testing for you in the early 1980's here in northern Manitoba. 72LG, radial port sprockets and the PowerMatch bars.
Now in retirement I'm building a 500cc hotsaw , a 1984 Honda CR500R.
I hope we cross paths again when I'm doing a few shows in the PNW.

Vote,, In high school , we had a three man logging rodeo team in our FFA and got 3rd in state. No that we we good, but our coach was Don Rota was was a world champoin in the sport in the 60's and would win the Morton, Wash. event every year... We used his sharp saws and axes which was our big edge,,,
