Artist of the exhibit: Peter Friedl, Austria

When the Israeli army fired at the city Qalqilyah in spring 2003, numerous animals died in the zoo,
the only one in Palestinian area.

With the bombardment the giraffe "Brownie" came into panic, pushed with the head against a mast, fell and died. The animals were stuffed and issued beside the zoo. Peter Friedl traveled several times to Qalqilyah and brought the giraffe finally to Kassel.

The giraffe represents as a symbol the political conflict in the west bank.
