This species, which breeds in northern Siberia and normally winters in Australasia, is a rare but regular visitor to the California coast, primarily in fall. This pale juvenile has been frequenting the ponds and flats just east of Alviso Marina Park in Santa Clara County.
Glen -- Outstanding! I gave up digiscoping when I got a DSLR, but this shows the advantages of keeping up with it -- greater reach -- and these are really sharp for digiscopes.
