Little Gulls, Plum Island, Massachusetts, June 2005

Larus minutus. This primarily European species is seen in small numbers annually in Massachusetts, mostly in spring and fall. As many as eight birds have been reported on Plum Island over the last week, associating with Bonaparte's Gulls.

Guest - Little Gulls are possible, but Bonaparte's Gull is similar in size and appearance and is much more common. Glen

End Oct I've been seeing this sweet gull in small numbers in Searsport's (Maine) harbor. They are all in first or second year's colors and act differently the the local Herring Gulls that they have been hanging out with
