This picture is a montage of four pictures of the same bird, taken using the auto drive (5 frames per second) of the Canon 20D. I had read elsewhere that when the weather is cold the cranes will sometimes fly with their feet tucked up under their bodies. Most of the pictures in these galleries show the feet trailing out behind the bird. But when I looked at these pictures I realized that I had caught a crane in the act of folding his feet up to his body. So, I created a montage of those 4 pictures to show the crane retracting its landing gear, so to speak.
