Sycamore Canyon Sinagua Indian Ruins

These seldom visited ruins are located in a remote section of Sycamore Canyon, northwest of Sedona, Arizona. I went backpacking in this canyon about a week ago and these ruins were on the itinerary to visit. Unfortunately, lousy weather cut our trip short and we didn't make it. Thus, I did a little research and discovered you can actually drive to a trailhead located less than a mile from their location. Of course, the drive was no walk in the park. While these ruins are located about 25 miles as the crow flies from my house, it took close to three hours to get there. It was a drive that involved 20 miles of washboarded shelf road followed by 12 more miles of bone jarring 4x4 road. The payoff was worth it though. These ruins rate right up there with False Kiva in Canyonlands for their scenic surroundings.

Fabulous! Amazing ruins. Would love to visit this place some day. The desert looks so green. Voted
