REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE 12 November 2006
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old, age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn, at the going down of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them.”
The parade and service at Colchester’s War Memorial, was to remember the fallen and injured in the two world wars and all of the world conflicts since.
This year special mention was made of recent casualties of the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts where local troops of the 16 Air Assault Brigade stationed at the Colchester Garrison were involved and lost their lives.
Taking part in the Parade were representatives of the British Legion and many ex-service associations. Navy, Army, Royal Air Force, The Merchant Navy and members of the Ghurkhas.
A detachment of the 16 Air Assault Brigade.
Pre Service Units and Civil Groups.
The Mayor and Officers of the Colchester Council.
The Parade was lead by the Band of the Parachute Regiment.
“When you go home tell them of us and say for your tomorrow we gave our today”
