Hi Gordon, I see that this has not been commented on for 7 years, but maybe you'll see it. Your pictures are beautiful, by the way. I've been thinking about getting into birdwatching. Question...I was watching a bird earlier today up on a telephone wire, I ASSUME it was a mockingbird, since I heard probably around 15 or so different bird calls from it. Are there any defining physical characteristics of mockingbirds? I was kind of far away, so all I could see really, was that it was gray, had white stripes on its wings, and had large tailfeathers.

Hi Jim, Mockingbirds are quite agressive and will certainly give you and any other birds a very hard time when they are nesting.

Hi Gordon, I had to laugh when I saw this shot going through your galleries (which are quite nice by the way). A couple of days ago, I got a short of this guys East coast cousin staring me down after I parked in front of the tree where their nest was. They were not happy with me!
