Uncommon resident in Mountains and northern lowlands regions (Fallbrook). Irregular Uncommon winter visitor in Lowlands region.
Habitat: Conifers.
Best locations: Live Oak Park in Fallbrook, Palomar Mountain State Park, Paso Picacho Campground, Laguna Mountains.
Note: Discovered breeding in 1998 in live oaks and sycamores in low elevations in the Fallbrook / De Luz Creek area.
