Rare to Uncommon and irregular winter visitor, October through April, in Mountains and Lowlands regions.
Habitat: Conifers, alders, sweet gum (liquidambar), mixed woods, weedy areas.
Best locations: Julian, Laguna Mountains Visitor Center.
Note: Winter 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 had numerous sightings, winter 2013-2014 only 1.
