Uncommon winter visitor, November through March. Most frequent in Coastal lagoons in North County. Nearly absent from Mission Bay and San Diego Bay. Otherwise scattered about on lakes throughout county.
Habitat: Fresh water and brackish water.
Best locations: Lake O'Neill, Buena Vista Lagoon, Batiquitos Lagoon.
