The Bawsinch Nature reserve beside Duddingston Loch is managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust with the assistance of Historic Scotland. A great place for birds including Water Rail, Sedge Warbler, Green & Great Spotted Woodpecker and Bullfinch, it also hosts a substantial breeding colony of Grey Heron.
