Two Painters

New Orleans

This mural is being painted on a hotel parking lot wall next to the Riverwalk. I've watched it grow each day as I've walked between the convention center and my hotel. I probably should have cropped in closer to the painter but I couldn't leave his co-worker out. The numbers are to help the painter complete this super-sized mural. He frequently holds a photo in his hand as he starts each new square.

Kinda paint by numbers... Good opportunity to keep up with his progress by taking a new picture everyday... ?

Your second choice is nice, but this is so "New Orleans".
Great shot, thanks for finding all these wonderful scenes.

Hi, Paul. No, this one will face the street, rather than the open parking lot.
Paul Dovie Jr24-Jun-2004 14:16
Beautiful shot Gayle, but is this being done over the whales in the parking lot of the riverwalk?
Robin Reid24-Jun-2004 14:03
This is the one! Unique and eye-catching.
Gosh, all your shots are right there at your hotel. What a hoot.
Larry Ahern24-Jun-2004 13:23
This is very well done!

The gentleman to the left seems to be praying that the electric scafold doesn't break. lol! Nice shot Gayle!

Excellent! You can see the faint outline of the design above the numbers. This really is an engaging photo. I like the shot just the way it is. Tighter cropping would lose much of the impact. (IMHO)

Great shot!!! Love the relaxing guy on the left =]

The numbers are to help him replicate the original drawing for the mural. He has photos of what each numbered section should look like that he consults as he starts a new section. The mural itself will be enormous. This is less than a third of it.

Nice capture Gayle. I am curious as to what the numbers are? It looks like a giant game of some type.
