I've been taking many daylily pictures almost evey day, helping my husband and friends catalog their daylilies. I know I've taken several of frogs in daylilies but I liked the way the stamens curved so protectively around this frog and the rich color of this daylily early in the morning. The frog's really in there lying in wait for some poor misguided insect to come along.
This particular frog is the green tree frog, the Louisiana state amphibian. We always called this one "grenouille" the French word for frog. He clings to windows at night because of the moisture and bugs. You have to open and close the door quickly at night so they don't accidentally get inside. If they do and you don't notice, the next day you'll find a dried-up little blob that used to be a pretty green frog. This frog was the inspiration for Kermit the Frog, for those of you who grew up watching Sesame Street
