800 X 600 Resolution

Working on a wide screen monitor with the resolution set to 1680 X 1050 takes some getting used to.
The image I was working on was set at 800 X 600 Resolution, and being viewed at 100%.

Ok, so I had no creative ideas today!

other sizes: small medium original auto

Know what you mean. It seems to make everything smaller and for someone my age harder to see that desktop. :) Much better resolution though.

One often speaks about resolution when it becomes to give an image size. But image size and resolution is not the same. A resolution does not get better when you increase the image size, except if the pixel size gets smaller. Thus, a 23 dpi has a lower resolution as a 28 dpi for example. What is important is how many pixels are present on an inch and how big they are. The more pixels per square inch, the higher the resolution. This only makes the resolution get better and for instance, if you compare cameras, a Canon 1DSmk2 with a full size 16 mpix chip has a lower resolution then a 300D with 6 mpix despite of the fact that the picture it produces is much bigger. Picture sizes are generated by the number of pixels on a chip only.
On a TFT screen, picture resolution will not change, all you do is magnifie the shot by reducing screen resolution and thus every detail appears bigger and less sharp.
I made a separate gallery in my techniques gallery to explain resolution of cameras, a subject where many people have quite a wrong idea about what resolution realy is.

Oh you poor thing...having to suffer adjusting to a new wide screen. ;-)

Yes, time to get up and stretch...walk outside with camera and shoot!
