|Message from Paul Guttenberg
Welcome! I am currently a hobbyist when it comes to photography although in years past I have paid the rent for periods of time with this craft.
In my increasingly scarce idol time (I am a dad & husband first after all) photography is where my thoughts inevitably wander. I have always enjoyed the equipment and process of creating images however I have not always been able to know the joy of sharing them with others. My family always indulge me, but my PBase galleries allow me to share with a much wider group than I would otherwise have access too. At various times in my life I have made my living in specialized technical photographic labs and as a very young man, before I joined the US Air Force, I worked a short stint as a portrait photographer . However, these days my profession keeps me far from any hands on or creative image production work. My PBase galleries have become a way of keeping connected with my love of creating images and all the planning and thought that goes into making them for an audience. Please feel free to comment on the images I present here, I enjoy the feedback.
-These days my tool kit includes:
If you are wondering, why the name Goodhill Photography? Well, its more a practical reason than anything else. I generally dislike silly internet names i.e. unique_1 or Supercool_55 and I just wanted to use my name. Then there is the daily routine I go through with new people trying to spell my name, Guttenberg. I get the one t, the urg, the Gooten, the berger, etc. These are all very important distinctions when ones name is in the www address as with user PBase galleries. I wanted to be able to say to someone casually 'you can go see my images at my PBase site' and give them my name without having to write the whole thing out for them. I needed something I thought would be easy to remember and still essentially be my name. My practical solution is the literal German to English translation of my name, Gutten berg equals Good Hill. Thus my PBase name Goodhill Photography Also, believe it or not there is another Paul Guttenberg up to all kinds of interesting and noble things who appears in search engine listings too. As it has turned out my site generates enough traffic to have risen to number one on many search engines when my name is input. So in the end I often just tell people I meet while out shooting just Google Paul Guttenberg to see my images. So much for my plan ;-) Thatís my story and Iím sticking to it!
