The Canada Lynx loves snowshoe hares. Love them so much that it is the number one prey item the Lynx feeds on which can represent about 80% of its diet. So, the snowshoe hare has to be always on alert. The hare's fur turns to white in the winter months to help it blend into the snowy landscape hoping to escape detection. Its big and wide hind feet act like snowshoes, hence the hare's name, keeping the hare afloat on top of deep snow as it runs.
Chasing each other is good practice.
