Townsend's Solitaire

Ottawa,Ontario.

Well, I went back to the same location looking for the flock of 3 dozen Bohemian Waxwings I had photographed the day before. The waxwings had gone but another bird was there instead, a Townsend's Solitaire. Someone had already been shooting it when I arrived.

Also present were a couple of Pine Grosbeaks and they were at the same spot as the day before. The funny thing is, I kept thinking that this would be a good place for seeing some rare birds.

The Townsend's Solitaire is a medium-sized songbird. Its overall appearance is long and slim with a dull gray colour. It has a distinctive white eyering, white outer tail feathers and a buffy wing patch.
