Kia ora koutou, I am of Maori and Tahitian descent and i am currently doing a research paper on Maori Kingitanga and Tahitian Monarchy through both monarchs only queens thus fare. Te Atairangikahu the late Maori Queen of my Maori people served as queen or (kuini) to her people for 50 years, and i am relating the similarities with our Maori Queen and the very late Aimata Pomare. I dont know my Tahitian side at all to be honest, i spent all day today at our national library in Wellington New Zealand. I was trying to hunt down some photo's of Queen Pomare, but was only able to find letters she had wrote to Queen Victoria of the same period.
Would be much appreciated if anyone out there could help me out, im in deep search for my Tahitian roots. Currently i have some whanau (family) visiting from Tahiti and it's a great relief to have my blood from that Tahitian Island with me.
