John Sutherland's two images illustrate clearly the advantages of shooting down avalanches in a controlled manner.
The train is passing Sink Lake which is directly below the avalanche paths seen in the previous three images. The snow
pack must have been unusually heavy this year and followed an abnormal path not used for many years previously,
judging by all the debris that has come down with the snow.
