I've seen a number of Great Blue Herons in my day..in the hills their vernacular name is "crane" ....but I don't think I ever saw one go through that many contortions in a short time!!! I doubt most people really know how tall they can be; I once had a student who had an injured one in a pen and standing close I found that out. and I also doubt that the average person knows the difference in the flight silhouette of the two species... Grest pictures...
