boas

Dublin, Ireland

Mum was proud of her camel hair coat, and had learned that boas were again THE fashion accessory...so, she took advantage of the visit to the zoo to complete her 1950's chic wardrobe

to clarify and confirm, this is a real, living, writhing snake. The photo was taken 10 April, 1954, at the zoo in Phoenix Park, Dublin

A brave and admirable woman from where I sit. She doesn't look the least bit concerned and rather appears to be enjoying the photo op!

Ok it is crystal clear to me now where you get your wonderfully adventurous spirit!
Danad15-Jan-2022 15:03
She was brave and seemed no more worried by the boa than by the change of life to come!

What a beautiful woman!
She was adventurous and courageous.
That confident expression makes me wish I was her friend.

Love your mom’s smile and the twinkle in her eyes. That she was willing to pose with the snake tells me she was the kind of person I’d like to get to know. Her smile made me smile!

Your lovely mum is certainly intrepid even though boas are generally friendly and non-venomous....the pose portrays her as a plucky person of vigor and humor....V

OMG! She looks so calm, just like if it had been a feather boa.

What a marvelous shot to have of your mother who, by this photo, must have been unfazed by things! Gorgeous boa too, but not many would do what she is doing. Bravo!

Sweet photo of your brave Mum. Camel hair coats were the thing all through the 50s. Great fun to see the snake. I have a story about a snake photo... my sister had a similar pose with a snake and for some strange reason, it reached up and bit her chin. She got stitches!

Whoah! I wouldn't trust a python around my neck; interesting that the Boa looks relaxed - more so than your Mum.

A wonderful portrait of your mom.
Helen Betts14-Jan-2022 19:04
A fine portrait of your mother, although I hope that wasn't a real boa constrictor!
Johnny JAG14-Jan-2022 18:48
I hope she didn't feel too constricted
