Ireland to Canada: that's a big move literally and culturally.

What a lovely lady and handsome son!
So stylish too.
This is such a treasure.
When I left Ireland I wanted to cry and I had only been there three weeks!

A treasured memory with the elephant, perhaps a bit poignant but an air of anticipation pervades as well.

Terrific memory shot David. Reminds me of our family leaving for Canada when I was 11.

What a fabulous shot this is! On the way to a new land, a journey I took with my family a bit later, from England. V

What a charmer (you, not the elephant!)! What a memory! So glad you have photos - most of mine got lost along the way...

Both you and mom are dressed so nicely here. That must have been exciting for you to go on a big ship at your age. Very cool photo.

What a great shot - love the elephant and one can sense the air of excitement/trepidation of going to a new life, especially from your Mum's expression.

Thanks for sharing this David. Both of my
wives maternal grandparents were born in Belfast.

Nice of you to bid farewell to the elephants before embarking on your long journey! I hadn't realized you were from Northern Ireland (as indicated in the previous pictures).
