Great in black and white. I thought Nirvan had a very astute observation.

An incredible sense of scale.. I am surprised too European people didn’t come until 1791. I am sure their arrival wasn’t welcomed by everyone. V

The styling of the anchor adds a sense of strength to the scene. Excellent in monochrome. V

A well composed image, good timing to get the people where they are. V

The impressive tree and the anchor sculpture provide an interesting contrast, visually and symbolically, each vying for a foothold on the land. The conflict is somewhat relieved by the casual strolling of the people. Fine tones here.

That is one big anchor. V

Inspiring sculpture, a marvel to behold, marking the spot where the explorer landed....an enthralling scene with the sharp anchor point contrasting nicely with the supple weeping branches....V

Well composed capture of this scene and your choice for B&W works perfectly V!
Helen Betts28-May-2021 21:03
Nicely composed capture, although not sure I would have recognized that as an anchor.
Mairéad28-May-2021 20:32
This works really well in B&W and the tree shows just how huge the anchor is.
Nick Paoni28-May-2021 20:14
Love the tones and how the tree balances out the anchor in the frame.

A very fitting monochrome treatment to
this composition
Nirvan Hope28-May-2021 18:31
The anchor looks a bit violent... perhaps the way the natives felt about new comers...
LynnH28-May-2021 18:10
Very nicely composed and great tones in the b&w. V

An interesting sculpture. Like your composition and choice of tones.
I am surprised to learn that no Europeans entered the area until 1791. The first visit here was in 1542.

looks nice in B&W....V
