murky

the air is still murky at the moment, as smoke drifting in from BC interior regions persists....the lingering smell is something like old socks burning

as a comparison with normal views, here is how the city's skyline usually looks: http://www.pbase.com/globalgadabout/image/165364859

Does look very blah. Too bad.

The light and soft colors are lovely despite the haze. Beautiful capture. V

At least a bit of colour in the sky here...looking so grey out this way!

Wow, that photo comparison is truly amazing. Hope it clears up soon.

Great with that skyline in the background, wonderful moody scene.

The smoke from the BC fires and the heat must be unbearable, David. Looks like that wise gull is headed east. Two fine compositions. Vote.

aesthetically speaking this is a very nice image to see, here from the other side of the Atlantic, where the air is pure and the summer clement... Hope everything will be better soon. (and in B.C. too of course). V.

A terrifying contrast. Hope it is not an omen of things to come.

What the smoke is doing to the lighting and visibility is so much like the air quality of the US east coast at times when it is hot and humid in the summer. It does really provide for some very nice diffused lighting. A nice capture but I hope the air clears there quickly. V

It's a big contrast. The air must be really bad for all the citizens, especially for the sick ones. I prefer the sunny side...!
joseantonio04-Aug-2017 03:55
very nice capture. We are experiencing a heat wave from Northern Africa witn dust particles in suspension what produces a extreme heat and a sense of poluted air....V

The skyline looks so cool in this atmosphere - super shot V

What a difference! Still, I like the seagull and the light, although a pity about the murk and reason for it.
Walter Otto Koenig03-Aug-2017 23:58
Looking decidedly murky. Well timed to get the gull in this position.
peterjay4503-Aug-2017 23:14
That is quite a contrast. I think most of the Province is suffering this smoke.

The contrast between the normal view and this one is astonishing. I do like the bird in this pic though.

Yikes! The contrast is striking. I had no idea the smoke had reached Vancouver. It is a pretty awful situation...difficult to hear about, awful to have to live with it. Hope the fires are curtailed ASAP. V

Lovely mood and good timing on the boid.
Johnny JAG03-Aug-2017 20:20
Interesting comparison
Jim Coffman03-Aug-2017 20:19
Wow, that is awful!! I am sure the air quality is in the dumper!
Martin Lamoon03-Aug-2017 20:02
Hope the fires are out soon
