smoky

Jericho Beach pier

normally winds blow from the BC coast to the interior of the province...at the moment so-called 'outflow' winds are bringing the smoky air of wildfires from the interior to the coast...typically this view would be colourful and pretty, yet this morning the north shore mountains are shrouded in haze

Very nicely composed photo, smoke or no. Looks like a fog moving in. Vote.

Nicely composed with the mast between the big the big boys. Hope the fires are put out quickly. v

Nicely composed maritime scene.

A dramatic image of the state of the world today... V.

I like these gray tones, unfortunately they result from smoke from fires... V

Great image of the conditions, just read that Whistler is really bad right now. Hope things improve! V

The smoke really changes Vancouver's appearance - apart from the tankers you could very well be here :) I like the gray look V

The haze is quite lovely, but I am sure deadly. Thee sailboat is beautifully framed. V

I still love seeing a seascape with ships and sailboats. We just spent 10 days with African dust filling our skies. Hard to believe it traveled all the way to Texas gulf coast. Sad about the wild fires. I saw them in the news today. Hopefully your weather will change soon.

How providential that the sun just hit the sailboat in shadow.
janescottcumming02-Aug-2017 22:51
Pretty lines on that sailboat. Amazing the smoky air reached you.

The haze adds a moody element here. I like the contrast between the tankers and the pleasure boat.
Walter Otto Koenig02-Aug-2017 19:38
Interesting view and description. Off shore winds are usually band news here and often connected with fire events.
Martin Lamoon02-Aug-2017 18:56
Still looks good there.

Lovely image, David, smoky or not. It has been very smoky here too, so many of these fires human caused, maliciously or stupidly.
Nirvan Hope02-Aug-2017 18:27
The smoky haze has even reached Tacoma! Nice to see a good water shot on a hot day.
Jim Coffman02-Aug-2017 17:33
A very moody image, David. Hope they get all the fires under control..
Helen Betts02-Aug-2017 17:31
An excellent capture but a sad reason for the heavy haze.
Johnny JAG02-Aug-2017 17:31
Shame about the haze but still a nicely composed shot

Great contrast between the simple and beautiful with the industrial. Nice shot despite the gray day. ~V~
