Anis at the FLL Airport

Most of these photos were taking thru a chain linked fence. Not the best of circumstances, but the best I could do without having airport security escort me off the property. ;-)

An odd-looking black bird with a long tail and a large, curved beak, the Groove-billed Ani is a tropical species that reaches the United States only in pasturelands and open country of southern Texas. Its membership in the cuckoo family is revealed by its two-toes-foreward, two-toes-back foot arrangement. (from Cornell Lab or Ornithology)

A bird of tropical savannahs in the Caribbean and South America, the Smooth-billed Ani reaches the United States only in southern Florida. (from Cornell Lab of Ornithology)
