I was able to identify the insect on the flower. Unfortunately this guest is a nasty pest called "kissing" bug or assassin bug (pselliopus cinctus). It is beneficial to have in gardens to help with pollination, but if you, a human, get bitten it is a very painful event. The bug injects the same salivary secretion used to dissolve the tissues of their prey into the bite and can transmit Chagas disease.
