Gilles Foy (QB/HQ)
FOY, Gilles Joseph Charles
On November 9, 2021, at 93 years of age, Gilles Joseph Charles Foy died peacefully in Ottawa. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Gisèle Foy (née Savard) and is survived by his daughters, Suzanne and Dominique and his much loved grandson Guillaume. He is also survived by his sister Andrée, his sister-in-law Jeanne d'Arc (late Adolphe Robichaud) and numerous nephews, nieces and wonderful friends. He will be reuniting with his predeceased parents Dr Georges Foy and Laurence Cantin, brothers Paul René and Gérard (Solange Gignac) and sisters Hélène (Maurice Rodrigue) and Raymonde, as well as his predeceased sisters and brothers-in-law: Joseph, Gemma, Véronique (Édouard Pageau), Lucie (Arthur Parent), Oscar (Jeannette Jacques), Georges (Jeanne Langevin), Claire (Lucien Hardy), Noël (Simone Pépin), Philippe (Jacqueline Jacques), Camil (Marcelle Chouinard), and Élène (Vénard Paulin).
Born in Quebec City, Gilles worked as an air traffic controller in Mont-Joli and Dorval, Quebec in the 50s and 60s. He then moved his family to Ottawa where Gilles had a long and distinguished career at Transport Canada, namely in the areas of international civil aviation, aeronautical legislation and regulations and was actively involved in the establishment of bilingual services in air traffic control in Canada.
At Gilles' request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home, religious service or commemorative event. He will be buried, alongside his beloved wife, in Quebec City at a later date. An online book of condolences is available on the Hulse, Playfair & McGarry (Ottawa).
