In 1971 a number of people who pursued an alternative lifestyle founded a commune at Christiania
and settled down in the abandoned army hutments and industrial sheds in this area.
After some time the authorities considered this community a social experiment.
And nowadays Christiania is still there and counts 900 people, who have a shool,
infrastructure and a governing board of their own.


In 1971 stichtte een groep mensen die kozen voor een alternatieve levensstijl een commune in Christiania.
Ze kraakten een aantal verlaten militaire barakken en fabrieksgebouwen in deze buurt.
Na enige tijd besloten de autoriteiten Christiania als een sociaal experiment te beschouwen.
En tot op heden bestaat Christiania nog altijd en telt 900 bewoners, die een eigen school, infrastructuur en bestuur hebben.
