Elephantin Island is a jewel in the Nile, which is worth an extended visit. There is the Aswan Museum, some ruinous temples
and a couple of colorful Nubian villages. A stroll through these villages is a relaxing experience.
And when in Elephantine "Animalia", a private museum, is a must. It features interesting biological collections.
On the ground floor there is an originally furnished and decorated Nubian house. And on the shady roof one can enjoy a cool drink and a panoramic view of the rural surroundings.
