2006 Photograph, Asiatic Dayflower (Commelina communis, Spiderwort family, Commelinaceae), Occoquan Bay NWR, Woodbridge, Virginia, © 2014.
Each flower lasts but one day, hence the name. This species, as the name suggests, is an import. It differs from the Erect Dayflower in that the lower stamens are not curved inward and the petals are smaller and an intense deep blue.
