That night, the wind died down some and we decided to try for Northern Saw-whet’s again, this time in Oklahoma. The owl we had photographed the first night was only about 19 miles from Kenton as the crow flies (only about 12 miles from the northwest corner of the state). We hoped to locate one among some large cottonwood and cedar on the abandoned farmstead we had visited the previous day. The moon was still near full but there was a bit more wind than our previous owling night. Also, the temperatures were in the upper 20s and low 30s. It was cold!
