On Friday, September 22, 2017, my wife and I met friends at the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge in southeastern Oklahoma (Johnston County) to photograph Roseate Spoonbill. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Tishomingo NWLR was established in 1946 to benefit migratory waterfowl in the Central Flyway. It was named for the famed Chickasaw warrior, Chief Tishomingo. The refuge encompasses 16,464 acres south and east of the town of Tishomingo and includes the 4,500-acre Cumberland Pool (portion of Lake Texoma).
