I suppose it's an issue of interpretation really. If you take a bearing from Garstang Town Hall, the castle is roughly SE of the town. In terms of the canal which is the benchmark I use, the general cruising direction is to the south (i.e., we pass the castle after passing the southernmost moorings of Garstang), hence the description. Hope it doesn't cause confusion. Thanks for stopping by though. Geoff
