Hi Barry, I ended up lying flat on the canal bank, and composed the shot on the E3 screen (it has a Live View function and a swiveling screen). This mage it relatively easy to get the shot. The fact that the E3 is splash proof gave me additional confidence to work so close to the water. Geoff

Great composition - how did you get the angle? Did you just hold the camera down near the water and shoot blind?
