There was a liner leak then things got worse and worse and finaly much better.

Wow, you must really love to swim!
Congratulations!
I'd have done the same thing.
But if I went through all of that I'd have made the whole thing deep, si it would be safer for a diving board. The transition slope can be a real nexk breaker, if you're not careful.
