Pale-headed Snake, Hoplocephalus bitorquatus

Kurrowah Qld

This snake was found on the trunk of an Angophora, photographed in situ at night. These venomous snakes feed mainly on frogs
and lizards. They are adept climbers, usually sheltering in tree hollows during the day. They are listed as vulnerable in NSW where
they are rarely encountered. They are threatened by habitat destruction through tree-clearing and road-building.
