Two WW1 war poets, one from Meath in Ireland the other from Meirionnydd in Wales, both born in the same year, killed in the same battle on the same day and buried in the same cemetery - Artillery Wood Cemetery, Boesinghe, Belgium (these plaques are placed near where they were killed, not too far from the cemetery).
To the memory of Francis Ledwidge (b. 19 Aug 1887) and Ellis Humphrey Evans "Hedd Wyn" (b. 13 Jan 1887) killed by shellfire 31 July 1917 at the battle of Passchendaele, with 31,000 others - to which General Haig wrote in his diary, "a fine day's work".
