Cattleya (KAT-lee-ah) and others

The first several Orchids are called Cattleya (KAT-lee-ah) or the Corsage Orchid. They require 50 to 70% full sun and are easy to grow.

I have added a new one called a Dendrobium.

I have a variety of orchids growing in the back yard and when they come into bloom (a year round event) I bring them into the house to enjoy. This particular one is very fragile and the blooms can be damaged easily by wind or rain, so I try to get them into the house before they start to open.

The blooms on this plant last only a week unlike other type that can bloom up to a month. These might look overly saturated, but the photographs really don't show the wax like texture of a really saturated yellow-orange flower. This one of the most colorful orchids in my collection.

Anyway, I don't take pictures of flowers, so this is kind of an experiment to what they look like on PBase.

Comments are ALWAYS welcome.
