Venice

Just down the road from the Oscar Scherer State Park is the quaint town of Venice. Collecting prehistoric sharks teeth has been a favorite pastime of visitors and residents of the Venice area for years. They may be black, brown, or gray, depending on the minerals in the soil in which they have been buried. They range in size from one eighth inch to three inches, and on rare occasions more. I didn't really go on the search for these but did see some picked up by one lady along the beach. They also sell these in the various shops.

My time was spent on the various beaches, Nokomis Beach, Caspersen Beach, and Venice Municipal Beach. Also did some sight seeing in town and an incredible drive down The Casey Key to view some of the most incredible mansions. This was a very tight road and no where to stop except at the gated entries.
