Oscar Scherer State Park

A large acreage of scrubby flatwoods makes this park one of the best places to see Florida scrub-jays, a threatened species found only in Florida. The park protects scrubby and pine flatwoods that were once widespread throughout Sarasota County.

My site was on the banks of the South Creek which starts at the Tampa Bay and winds it way up through the park. I was very fortunate to be able to capture the Scrub Jay's and the Pileated Woodpecker during my hikes through the region.
