We didn't go out at all today. Partly because I had a lot to do in the house and partly because of the fuel depot explostion in Hemel Hempstead, which, despite being miles away from us, was causing dark grey clouds of smoke in our area. But this morning I was treated to the sight of the blackbirds in the garden trying to reach the last few berries on a shrub. The couldn't get to them because they were at the ends of branches that wouldn't take the weight of the birds - perhaps they'll work out a way tomorrow.
