When is a reservation for seat 19 really a reservation for seat 4? When you are on Midland Mainline trains! Confused? So was I when I turned up at my train at 07.30 today. I'd made a reservation for breakfast but seat 19 wasn't laid up for breakfast. However, the 'chef' explained that the carriage had been put on back to front and so seat 19 was now seat 4. The seat reservation confusion continued as more passengers got on but eventually we all settled down for our 2.5 hour journey and a hearty breakfast. Just at the train approached Bedford we were told that there were 'problems with overhead lines' and the train would have to go slowly for a while. It chugged along slowly for a minute or two before coming to a complete stop. We did eventually arrive and only 20 minutes late. British Trains, don't you just love them?
Taking this photo is the first time I've noticed the penalties on the bottom of the reservation ticket - £200 for removing the ticket and £50 for unauthorised occupation of a reserved seat. I'd better take this ticket back... hahahah.
