Coal Dog

My brother bought me this little dog (8 cms high) back from a school trip to Wales - I think my brother would have been about seven or eight at the time. The dog is made from a piece of welsh coal. It's not exactly attractive but I've always treasured it.

I think he's very cute - as for coal sculptures - there are a few of them in the Alstead (senior) household - my Dad's an ex-coal miner and he's very proud of the tradition.

your brother should be quite pleased to know you've kept it all this time. it was very thoughtful of him to have gotten you a souvenir from a school trip, especially for a 7-8 year old.
