A .177 cal BB shot through a reversed Pentax 50mm lens at about 50% zoom, and with the photo reduced to 25% of original size.
While it's a lousy photo (shiny subjects aren't good), it illustrates the extremely shallow depth of field at even f/11 and only half of full zoom (about 200mm equivalent).
This translates, on a normal 100ppi monitor, to about 120x magnification. With full zoom, it should be around 250x magnification, unfortunately with even less depth of field.
