Butterfly Meadow

This is part of the older section of the meadow. In this photo you can see, amongst other species, knapweed, goldenrod, and sow-thistle. Both the knapweed and the sow thistle are non-native and can very quickly take over, However, both are well used by pollinating insects, the sow-thistle later fall when I've seen dozens of sweat bees (Halictids) on the flowers which are still blooming at that time.
